We also offer the Boxing Awards Scheme
The main purpose of the National Boxing Awards is an introduction to the sport of amateur boxing as a game of skill, it promotes discipline, and respect for others, self control whilst at the same time provides healthy enjoyment in an educational environment.
It builds self confidence whilst providing a purposeful past time that can be carried through to other aspects of youth development. The qualities of boxing training instilled in the young are well known by those who have seen the results first hand and by that I mean parents, teachers, youth & community leaders and of course boxing coaches.
Now with the IABA Boxing Awards we will have the opportunity to pass on the benefits from amateur boxing training without the hurting or being hurt and to provide a healthy channel for youthful energy and natural aggression.
The IABA Boxing Awards provides all participants the opportunity not only to learn a new activity/ sport but also develop educationally. The IABA National Boxing Awards are very flexible and can be delivered in PE Curriculum time.
Remember... "Don’t think you can, know you can"
Introduction
Welcome to the Boxing Awards, these awards are designed as a fun recreational programme for all participants at all levels, ages and abilities.
The Boxing Award scheme is open to everyone from the age of five years up to adults. The Awards are progressive, which means you will pass each award in the following order before you go on to the next:
Non Contact
Semi Contact
Each Non Contact Award is taught by a Boxing Awards tutor with the last session being the assessment. The Non Contact Awards may be delivered by a qualified Boxing Tutor in schools, youth clubs, colleges, universities and community clubs. The first award (preliminary) is designed at grass roots level promoting a healthy lifestyle, fitness, weight control also contributing to increased self esteem and confidence. There is no contact involved in half of the recreational boxing awards and therefore there is no need for a participant to have a boxing medical. However, once you have progressed to silver, gold and platinum award you will be required to have a boxing medical and all sparring must be conducted by an IABA qualified boxing coach.
The preliminary, standard, bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards ensure everybody benefits from the skills and disciplines involved in amateur boxing as well as keeping fit and having fun..
